Peter Shapiro

Peter Shapiro is the Executive Director of the Revenue Authority of Prince George’s County. He is the former Director of the James MacGregor Burns Academy of Leadership’s Rawlings Center for Public Leadership at the University of Maryland (USA) and is a leadership coach/consultant on executive education and MBA programs at leading business schools in the US and internationally.

From 1998 to 2004, Peter served as an elected member of the Prince George's County Council, including 2 years as Council Chair. During his tenure on the Council, he served on the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG), chaired the COG Transportation Planning Board and the COG Chesapeake Bay Policy Committee and served as vice-chair of the COG Metropolitan Washington Air Quality Committee.

In addition, Mr. Shapiro served on the State of Maryland Special Task Force for Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and served as co-chair of the Urban Land Institute’s Regionalism Initiative Council.

Mr. Shapiro is a Phi Beta Kappa summa cum laude graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, with a major in African-American Studies. He is a graduate of the Leading Consultation program of the Paris-based International Forum for Social Innovation and was a doctoral candidate in Leadership and Organizational Behaviour at Hull University Business School (UK).
